Parish and town councils are the lowest level of local government. They are elected local authorities, which aim to engage local people and respond to their needs, through representation as community advocates or by providing services.

LAPC provides services to the residents of the Luckington and Alderton parish, and represent the needs of the parish to the next level of government, which is Wiltshire Council.

The extent of the parish can be seen in the Parish Map.

Luckington and Alderton is a small parish, so LAPC comprises a maximum of seven councillors only, as well as Parish Clerk.

All the current 5 councillors stood for election in May 2021 and were elected unopposed. There are currently 2 vacancies.

Councillors give their time voluntarily. The Parish Clerk is a paid position.

Funding for LAPC activities is provided as a precept from Wiltshire Council. The level of precept is agreed by LAPC annually, and is collected by Wiltshire Council as part of the Council Tax.
